This annual competition inspires students to be creative while promoting public awareness of the need to preserve, protect, and restore the world’s oceans and aquatic resources, contributing to the overarching goals of the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation.
The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation is thrilled to announce the 13th Annual Science Without Borders® Challenge! Open to primary and secondary school students aged 11-19, the contest offers scholarships up to $500 for outstanding entries.
This year’s theme, "Marine Keystone Species", focuses on species that play a critical role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems. To enter, students are invited to create artwork highlighting the importance of a marine keystone species in its ecosystem.
The Challenge is open to students enrolled in primary or secondary school (or the home school equivalent). College and university students are not eligible.
Artwork will be judged in two age categories, each awarding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes:
Ages 11-14
Ages 15-19
Winners in each age group will receive:
1st Place: $500
2nd Place: $350
3rd Place: $200
Additionally, a People’s Choice Award offers a $50 scholarship for the selected winners in each age category.
The Science Without Borders® Challenge is an international contest that unites students and teachers in ocean conservation through art. This annual event encourages creativity while raising public awareness about the importance of ocean preservation, protection, and restoration.
