BlueCat remains dedicated to undiscovered writers and continues its tradition of providing written analysis on every script submitted. The competition accepts feature films, short films, and pilots, offering a total of $8,000 in cash prizes in 2025. This includes the Fellini Award, which grants $2,000 to the best script written by an international writer.

Feature Screenplay Winner: $3,000
Short Script Winner: $3,000
Fellini Award: $2,000 for the Best Screenplay from any category (Feature or Short) written by a screenwriter residing outside the USA.
Founded in 1998 by WGA writer Gordy Hoffman, the BlueCat Screenplay Competition continues its mission to develop undiscovered talent. Many BlueCat winners and finalists have signed with prestigious agencies, including ICM, CAA, and WME, and their works have been sold to major studios such as Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., and Universal. BlueCat writers have also garnered awards at festivals like Sundance, Berlin, and Tribeca following their recognition with BlueCat.
