Apila’s First Printing Award 2025
Overview:
Apila’s First Printing Award 2025 is an international illustrated picture book contest aimed at promoting creativity and enriching children's literature with an educational focus. The competition invites illustrators worldwide to submit original or adapted stories for children, which will be published by Apila Ediciones.
Prize:
€4,000 (10% of the first print run value)
The winner will sign a professional contract with Apila Ediciones for the publication of their book.
The book will benefit from international distribution, providing significant exposure for the illustrator.
Submission Requirements:
Format: Any format, but must not exceed 40 pages (including credits and title pages).
File: PDF (max 10MB) of the finished book or layout (5 finished double-page spreads, the rest sketched).
Language: Spanish or English.
Book Type: Original stories or adaptations of public domain tales.
File Naming: The illustrator’s surname and first name followed by “LAST_NAME_FIRST_NAME_BOOK”.
Eligibility:
Open to illustrators over 18 who have not been previously published by a traditional publishing house.
Judging:
The winning project will embody creativity and educational enrichment in children's literature.
This competition provides a unique opportunity for emerging illustrators to gain recognition and contribute to the world of children's publishing.
